Mary Irene Allen, 101, formerly of Walton, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Fox Hospital Nursing Home of Oneonta, NY.

Mary was born December 8, 1914 in DeLancey, NY the daughter of the late Myers E. and Ida May (Budine) Jacobson. She was raised in Downsville until she moved with her family to Walton when she was a teenager. She was the youngest of 11 children. On February 12, 1934 she married Ernest P. Allen in Margaretville. He died on September 12, 2000.

Mary was a member of the Northfield Community Church for many years being the oldest living member. The most important thing to her was spending time with her family, she was a loving daughter, sister, mother, wife, mother in law and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, making quilts, playing cards and dominos, and loved doing chores.

Mary is survived by her loving family, children, Barbara Lathan of Walton, Floyd and Linda Allen of Sidney Center, Howard and Patricia Allen of Lake Worth, FL, Ginny and Charles O'Dell of Walton, grandchildren, Ann, Michelle, Helana, Kelly, Kimberly, Bradley, Scott, Peter, Thomas, Charles Jr., Bryan, Dennis, Rebecca, Melissa, Christopher, 28 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Kathleen Allen, Scotia; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Reginald Allen, granddaughter, Lori Calkins, great-grandsons, Matthew and Isaac, son in law, Paul Lathan, sisters and brothers, Jennie, Anna, Mabel, Leah, David, Mary Eunice, Isaac, Sarah M, Edward and Florence.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM at Courtney Funeral Home, Walton where services will be held at 1 PM on Friday, April 1, 2016 with Rev. Marv Root, and Rev. Garrett Mercier, officiating. Burial to follow in the Walton Cemetery, Walton.
