Mary "Aunt Marie" Fernandez, 94, of Butternuts, passed away Wednesday morning, September 12, 2012 at the home of her niece and nephew, Kathy and Charlie Eckelmann.

Aunt Marie was born on April 14, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY; the daughter of the late Emanuel and Catherine (Simpson) Fernandez. She worked for many years in Brooklyn, as a seamstress. Mary enjoyed music, dancing, movies and the beach.

Mary is survived by her loving family, her daughters, Paula and Frank Amari, Patricia DeVivio, her grandchildren, Adele and Paul Bianchini, Frank Amari, David and Stacy Amari, her great grandchildren, Scott DeVivio, Daniel and Paul Bianchini, Alexis and Anthony Amari, her niece, Kathleen and Charlie Eckelmann of Butternuts, her great nieces and nephews, Patricia and Daniel Sperry, Afton; Kimberly and Andy Kendall, Gilbertsville; "CJ" and Katie Eckelmann, Unadilla, her great-great nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Samantha, Brandon and Rebecca, and several cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Fernandez and sister and brother in law, Bonnie and Nick Cunningham.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.

Aunt Marie's family would like to the thank the staff of the Fox Hospital, the Catskill Area Hospice and the Gilbertsville EMS for their professionalism and the many kindnesses they have shown Marie during her illness.
