Obituary

Mary E. Pixley, 84 formerly of Walton passed away Sunday, February 10, 2008 in the Countryside Care Center, Delhi, after a long illness.

Mary was born in Ticonderoga, on February 6, 1924 the daughter of the late Raymond and Winifred (Smith) Nash. She was a graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Mary first came to Walton after college to work for a short time at Walton High School as an Art Teacher. She then went to work as an artist at the Walton Reporter. On August 30, 1946 she married Waldo "Joe" Pixley in Hamilton. He died in 1996. Mary led a simple life where her focus was on her family. She will be remembered as a kind and gentle spirit by all who knew her.

Mary is survived by 2 daughters, Nancy E. (Fred) Hazecamp, Endwell; Joanne (Doug) Furman, Walton; 4 grandchildren, Becky (Matt) Beers, David (Melissa) Hazecamp, Jill (Chris) Marlett, Nathaniel Furman, 3 great grandchildren, Hannah Hazecamp, Caroline Beers, Madison Beers, 2 sisters, Nancy King, Winifred Nelson, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be sent to Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820.
