Obituary

Matthew Paul Sterling Tweedie 23, a life long resident of Walton, passed away Friday afternoon, August 17, 2007 of injuries suffered as a result of a motor vehicle accident in the town of Tompkins.

Although Matt's time with us was short he led a very active and meaningful life. Matt was born in Walton, on June 4, 1984 the son of Frank and Penny S.(Peterson) Tweedie. He was a graduate of Walton Central School, class 2002, where he played baseball, and football on the 2000 New York Class C finalist team. He also graduated from Cobleskill College with a Bachelor of Technology degree, in 2006, and served as vice president of the A.A.P.C, past member and officer of Walton chapter of FFA. He was employed as a herdsman with Schaefer Enterprises, Deposit, a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Order of the Arrow, Lodge # 402; vice president of the New York Junior Hereford Assn., long time member of the Delaware County 4-H, a former summer assistant at the Cornell Cooperative Extension, Delaware County, and was an Ordained Elder of the United Presbyterian Church, Walton. Matt proudly showed his herefords at the Delaware County Fair for 10 years. He was also an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.

Matt is survived by his loving family: mom and dad, Penny and Frank, sister, Megan and her fiancee', James Eklund, Stamford, brother Nathan, Walton, paternal grandmother, Ruth Tweedie, Walton, maternal grandparents, Paul and Carol Peterson, Walton, his beloved girlfriend and best friend, Sarah Klopman, Duanesburg, aunts and uncles, Irene and Graydon Ballard, Sidney, Edward Tweedie, Masonville, Richard and Sharon Tweedie, Cherry Hill, NJ, many cousins and many, many friends.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday evening, August 20, 2007 from 6 to 8 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St. Walton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the United Presbyterian Church, 58 East Street, Walton, with the Rev. Thomas Ballard, and Rev. Bert More, officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.
