Maxine M. Northrup, 71, of Westfield, MA, formerly of Walton, died Tuesday in the Governors Center, Westfield, MA.

She was born in Sidney Center on November 7, 1937, a daughter of the late George and Lillian (Wormuth) Van Loan.

Maxine was a 1955 graduate of Walton High School.

She moved from Walton area and has lived in Westfield, MA for the last 30 years.

Maxine worked as an assembler for Ensign-Bigford in Simsbury, CT until her retirement in 1998.

She was a member of the Southwick American Legion Auxiliary, Southwick, MA. Maxine also enjoyed bowling, dancing with her beloved Bill and cheering on the Boston Red Sox.

Ms. Northrup was predeceased by her son, David Northrup in 1997 and her sister, Eleanor Cappiello.

Maxine is survived by her companion and best friend, Bill Kaczmarek of Westfield, MA; her children, Sharon (Mike) Harrington of Walton, Gerald (Deborah) Northrup of Unadilla, Thomas (Brenda) Northrup of Trout Creek, Susan (Douglas) Earl of Masonville and Sandra (John) Hannon of Walton; step-son, Mike Kaczmarek of Westfield, MA; 13 grandchildren, Geoffery, Jocelyn, Farrah, Sean, Robert, Jason, Derek, Amber, Jessica, Jonathan, Ashley, Michael and Cassidy; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd VanLoan of Milton, FL; sisters, Theodora Gransbury of Davenport and Willo (Gordon) Seely of Viola, DE; the father of her children, James H. Northrup of Walton; special niece Gwen Turner of Chicopee, MA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on the family from 4 until 6 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where a memorial service will follow at 6:00 PM with the Rev. Bert More officiating.

Interment at Walton Cemetery will be held in the spring.
