Michael S. Sramek, 75, of Walton formerly of Fishkill passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Countryside Care Center, following a long illness as a result of a motorcycle accident in 1986.

Michael was born on September 19, 1936 in New York City, the son of the late Michael P. Sramek and Dorothy (Butler) Pollack.

Michael proudly served his country from 1954 to 1956 in the U.S. Army. He was employed for many years by the Delaware County Highway Department as a Road Supervisor. He was a member of American Legion #1554, and the Slater Fire Department. In his spare time he enjoyed riding motorcycle, bowling, snowmobiling, golf, hunting, and softball.

Michael is survived by his children, Stephen (Mei) Vitek of Sidney; Derry (Sandra) Sramek of Unadilla, Michael R. Sramek of Sebring, Florida; William Sramek of Walton; Michelle (Larry) Phoenix of Trout Creek; his grandchildren, Cory, Robert, Dusty, Brad, Tamara, Michael, Cierra, Ashley, Nathan, Jessica, Samantha, Megan, and Michaela, his 7 great grandchildren, his special caregiver, Darlene Dutko, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Nicole Vitek, and his brothers, John Pollack, and Martin Sramek.

Friends and family are invited to call on Monday morning, January 16, 2012 at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, from 11 AM to 1 PM where a prayer service will be held at 1 PM with the Rev. Edward Golding, officiating. Burial will follow in the Trout Creek Cemetery with full military honors.
