Mildred 'Midge' Shields passed away peacefully July 14, 2013, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the loving wife of Denton "Denny" Shields, who predeceased her in 1992. She was also predeceased by her daughter Gail in February which weighed heavily on her heart.

She is survived by son Jim and Beverly Shields of Downsville; daughter Sally and Joe Braitling of Saugerties; daughter, Priscilla and Robert Staruchowicz; son Tom and Lavonne Shields of Downsville; son in law Jerry Stone of Downsville; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Midge and Denny lived for more than 30 years in Palmetto, Fla., and had many friends, many of whom stayed in contact after moving back to Downsville three years ago. Midge enjoyed playing bingo and cards and enjoyed her many old friends in Downsville but missed her home and longtime friends in Florida. Midge also loved to go to TAs Restaurant in Walton where Debbie and her staff spoiled her and made her laugh.

No services will be held.
