Mitchell G. Elmore, 82, of Walton passed away on Monday, December 24, 2012 at O'Connor Hospital in Delhi, following a long illness.

Mitch was born on September 22, 1930 in the Town of Colchester, the son of the late Jessie and Nora (Rutherford) Elmore.

Mitch proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he earned the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. On November 25, 1950 he married the former Dorothy L. Gray in Walton. In his spare time he loved to cut wood, spending time outside, hunting, fly fishing and hanging out at Boomer's Garage. He was a former member of the Fancher Hook & Ladder Co. # 3 and honorary member of the Walton Fire Dept.

Mitch is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, his sister in law, Dolores "Rae" Gray of Waynesboro, PA., and his special niece, Carol Elmore of Shinhopple; and his special caregiver, Joelle Underwood, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Ricky Ben Elmore on July 31, 1972 and his brother, Walter "Charlie" Elmore.

Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, from 10 AM to 12 Noon, where services will be held at 12 Noon with the Rev. Larry Light, officiating. Burial to follow in the Walton Cemetery,55 Fancher Avenue, Walton, with full military honors.
