Obituary

Myra Austin Youmans passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton.

She was the daughter of William H. and Elizabeth La Frano Austin born in Walton where she was a lifetime resident.

She was a graduate of Walton High School and Binghamton Business Institute.

On August 17, 1940 she married Gerald W. Youmans at Colchester Station and they resided in Walton.

In January of 1955 Myra was employed at Radio Station WDLA in Walton; she became a director of the corporation in 1972. Upon the death of Michael Cuneen one of the owners she and a fellow employee, Amos Finch purchased the station in 1975, and they constructed 2 more stations one in Delhi and one in Deposit, and operated them until December of 2000 when the business was sold.

Surviving is a daughter Deborah Boynton-Cobb and her husband, Jerry of Bakersfield, CA, a daughter-in-law, Kathryn Youmans of Walton, grandchildren, Jacque, Ricky, Tracey, Jeffrey, Taj, Rhett, Jodie & Dave, and Chad; several great-grandchildren; niece and nephews, Regina, Bill and Connie.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband Gerald Youmans in 1983, two sons, Erich Youmans in 1990 and Gerald "Thumper" Youmans in 2006, a grand-daughter, Stacey, three sisters, Marion Austin, Celia O'Neill and Georgia Miller.

A graveside service at Walton Cemetery, will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday morning, July 6, 2010, with the Rev. Jennifer Matison Juliano, officiating. Persons wishing to do so may make memorial contributions to the charity of their choice in Myra's name.
