Nora K. McGoldrick, 74 of Sidney Center, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 3, 2008 in Fox Hospital, Oneonta, after a short illness.

Nora was born on July 16, 1934 in Teaneck, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Jacob and Wahneta Simmons Alvarez. She was a graduate of Memorial High School, West New York, NJ. On June 10, 1967 she married Charles "Alan" McGoldrick in Kingston. Nora was employed as police matron for the Fort Lee, NJ police Dept., and on the George Washington Bridge.

Nora was a former member of the Drum & Bugle Corps, where she marched and played taps at many military funerals. She loved visiting the Sidney Center area as a young girl where her family had a farm, finally moving here in 1998, fulfilling a lifelong dream.

Nora is survived by her beloved husband, Alan, 4 daughters, Dawn Manzetti, Hasbrouck, NJ; Kimberly Crockford, Lake Wallenpaupack, PA; Heather Corcoran, Fort Lee, NJ; Leah (Robert) McDermott, Hanover, NJ; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer, Steven, Kayla, Scott, John, Hunter, Riley, Erin, brother, Jacob Alvarez, Sidney; sister, Edwina Davino, Haledon, NJ; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a grandson, Liam, and a brother, Edward Alvarez.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday afternoon, September 5, 2008 from 2 to 4:30 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where services will be held at 4:30 PM. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.
