Norma was born on September 8, 1930 in Johnson City, NY, the daughter of the late Herman and Florence (Lewis) Klett. On July 14, 1951 she married Francis "Frank" Cucciarre of Walton, NY and celebrated 61 years of marriage before his passing. Norma met Frank, the love of her life, on a blind date during a Hartwick College fraternity - Oneonta College sorority dance. She was also predeceased by her sister Anne (Al) Gubner, sister-in-law Ruth Cucciarre and brother-in-law Joseph (Barbara) Cucciarre.
Norma graduated salutatorian from Johnson City High School. She attended Oneonta Normal School, (aka: Bugbee School, Oneonta State Teachers College), now known as SUNY Oneonta and graduated with honors. She had a great love for children and taught kindergarten in Walton Central School for 40 years before retiring to take care of her own grandchildren. In retirement, Norma also worked in the family business, Tony's Shoe Store.
Norma loved to sew, read and take care of her family. As she was transported to the hospital, she noted "if I lose my ability to speak, tell my children I love them". She was known as a solid foundation of faith for her family, recounted God's faithfulness, persevered in trial and lovingly instructed her family in the Lord's ways.
While teaching Walton's youth, Norma was an active member of her community serving as Sunday school teacher, Pack 45 Cub Scout den leader, Girl Scout assistant, Little Women 4-H Club project leader, Delaware Valley Hospital Ladies Auxiliary coordinator, and DVH Hospital Carnival fundraiser. She was a member of the Christian Apostolic Church in Fayetteville, NY.
She is survived by her children David (Lori) Cucciarre and Nancy (Michael) Stuligross both of Walton, NY; three grandchildren, Matthew and Daniel Cucciarre of Walton, NY and Mikaelan Cucciarre-Stuligross of Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Ben Cucciarre, sister-in-law Barbara Cucciarre, brother-in-law, Elmer "Al" Gubner, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
