Obituary

Olive Easson Hoag passed away on May 14, 2009 at the Presbyterian Residential Community in New Hartford, NY at the age of 94.

She was born in Mundale(Delaware Co.) on March 26, 1915, the daughter of the late William Russell and Edith Bourne Easson. Olive was a graduate of Walton High School.

In 1937, she married William H. Hoag. The couple worked together in Hoag's Greenhouse in DeLancey. Bill and Olive also grew cauliflower throughout Delaware County. In later years, Olive worked as a Nurse's Aide at the Delaware County Infirmary. The Hoags also spent many years wintering in Florida. Olive was a devout member of the DeLancey Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.

Olive was the mother of two children: Russell Hoag, and wife Adelaide of Cape Carteret, NC and Margaret Doenges, and husband Richard of Edmeston, NY. Olive also had two granddaughters: Kimberly Nelson, and husband Michael of Angier, NC and Amanda Beigh, and husband Robert of West Winfield, NY. Olive was blessed with 5 great-grandchildren: Gavin, Lindsey, and Owen Nelson and Mitchell and Mason Beigh.

Olive was predeceased by her husband in 1997. Upon leaving her home in DeLancey, she lived with her daughter until residing in the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford, NY.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St. Walton, NY with the Rev. Bert More officiating. Friends and Family may call one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hamden Cemetery.
