Patricia A. Hodges, 67 of Walton, "went home to the house of the Lord" Sunday morning, May 1, 2005 surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Pat was born on February 7, 1938, in Walton the daughter of Lawrence and Waneta Adams Gifford. She was a graduate of Walton High School. In 1959 she married Paul Hodges in Sidney Center who pre-deceased her in 1990. For many years Pat was a short order cook at The Annex Restaurant and for the last 12 years she worked with her brother at Gifford's Sport Supply.
She is survived by her mother Waneta, of Walton; one daughter; Penny Brown and her husband Bob of Jacksonville, FL; five sons: Donald and his wife Pam McClenon of Sidney; Mark McClenon; Ryan Hodges and his wife Rae; Danny Hodges and his wife Vinnie; David Hodges and his wife Christina, all of Walton; 15 grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua, Brianna, Zachary, Ian, Destiny, Ryan, Abby, RaeAnn, Jillynn, Amy, Brad, Jordan, Ashley, and Katherine; 4 great grandchildren; Trevor, Brandon, Connor and Justin, two sisters: Nancy Bennett of Sidney Center, and Debbie Bartlett, of Walton; three brothers; Larry Gifford of OH, Richard Gifford, of Delhi and Jon Gifford of Maryland; several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her former husband Reginald McClenon. She is also survived by her long-time friend Harvey Johnston of Walton.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday evening, May 5, 2005 from 6 - 8 PM at The Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM at The Walton Cemetery, with the Rev. Bert More officiating.
She loved to sit on her front porch on the corner of Stockton Avenue and watch the traffic go by. She also enjoyed her Tuesday Nights out with the girls at T.A.'s.
Especially dear to her heart were her grandchildren who will remember her always.
She was a one of a kind person and will be missed.
