Patricia "Patty" Ann Van Loan, 81, of Walton, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at her home in Walton.

Patty was born on January 26, 1933 in New Berlin, NY the daughter of the late Louis and Bernice Wakeman Perkins. On December 3, 1955 she married Thurston Van Loan in Pompton, Pennsylvania.

Patty was employed by the Delaware Telephone Company where she worked as a phone operator. She was a devoted member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Walton and a member of the Sidney Country Club. Patty enjoyed traveling with her bowling team, playing golf in Delhi and playing cards with friends. She also liked to help with the luncheons, pork dinners, and making peanut brittle at Christ Episcopal Church. Patricia also enjoyed babysitting the Terry and Meredith boys. Patty took pleasure in volunteering for many youth groups; she was awarded Service to the Youth for working with the children at the First Congregational Church. Throughout her years of working with children many of them would often call her "mom."

Patty is survived by her loving husband, Thurston; her cousin, Karyl Pecora and her husband John of Oneonta, NY; Aunt Betty and Ernest Vail of Walton, NY; her special friends, Billy Meredith, Linda Scott and Nancy Greene all from Walton and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her aunt, Jean Shaw, and her uncle, Roland Wakeman.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 11 AM at Christ Episcopal Church, 41 Gardiner Place, Walton with the Rev. Suzanne Cole, officiating. Burial will follow in the Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton.
