Philip K. Murphy, 47 of Downsville, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday morning, February 10, 2009 in Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton.

Phil was born in Walton, on August 3, 1961 the son of Ralph and Joyce (Ellett) Murphy. He attended Downsville School. On April 8, 1989 he married the former Lisa Mackey.

Phil was self employed as a carpenter and mechanic. He enjoyed collecting Zippo lighters, and working on cars, motorcycles, and snowmobiles.

Phil is survived by his wife, Lisa, a son Andrew Murphy, San Diego, California, his father Ralph (Mary Lou Gladstone) Murphy, Downsville; his mother Joyce Murphy, Downsville; grandson, Brett Murphy, brother Brian (DeEtta) Murphy, Downsville; 2 sisters, Cheri Murphy, Newark, NY; Beth (Kevin) O'Brien, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday, February 13, 2008 from 6 to 8 PM at the Colchester Community Church, Downsville where services will be held Saturday morning at 10 AM with the Rev. Dale Ashby, officiating. Interment will be in Paige Cemetery, in the spring. Courtney Funeral Home, Walton is serving the family.
