Ralph L. "Roy" Murphy, 79, of Unadilla, passed away on Monday afternoon, August 6, 2018 at Chenango Memorial Hospital of Norwich, following a long illness..

Roy was born on March 18, 1939 in the Town of Colchester the son of Sterling Murphy Sr.

He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps. He was owner of Murphy Auto in Downsville. Roy enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing, traveling and having coffee with his friends in the afternoon. He also loved spending time with his family.

Roy is survived by his companion of 25 years, Mary Gladstone; his children, Cheri and Charlie Schaufelberger, Beth and Kevin O'Brien, Brian and Dee Murphy, Gary & Sally Gladstone Jr., grandchildren Courtney and Dan, Kelsey, Christopher, Keith, Brittney and Kirk, Tim and Pam, Bill and Amanda, Kevin Jr. and Sarah, Andrew; Jessica, Chad, Brett and Cassidy Great-grand children, Cuyler, Oliver, Harley Jay., Leighton, Molly Jean, Sally, Madelyn, Grace, Emma, Sophie Logan, Lucas and Alexis; sisters, Alfretta "Sis" Doig, and Sylvia and Steve Reed; special friends, Chester & Donna French. Roy was predeceased by a son, Philip Murphy a granddaughter, Morgan Fancher, brothers, Jim Murphy, Sterling "Butch" Murphy and Walter Murphy and a sister, Lois.

A graveside service will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton,
