Obituary

Raymond George Grossmann, 57, husband of Renne Ann Smith, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 in Murphy, NC. He was a loving dad, husband, brother, uncle and grandfather.

Ray was born in Hancock, NY the son of the late, Leonard Warren and Lucille Weisinger Grossmann. He was a miner with Bradshaw Tunneling Corporation for many years, beginning in 1978. One of his first projects was the City of Baltimore Subway System.

He loved to fish and play golf. He was one tough miner and mucker MMF. He loved to spend his time with his children and his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors whether it was camping, hunting, fishing or fourwheeling.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Chistoffer Raymond Grossmann (Heather) of Sumter, SC and JesseWarren Scott Grossmann of Columbia, SC; two daughters, Carly Beth Grossmann and Harly Nichole Grossmann both of Pendleton; three brothers, Leonard Grossmann (Nancy) of Virginia Beach, VA, Charles Grossmann (Kathy) and Richard Grossmann both of Walton, NY; four sisters, Gladys Palmatier, Virginia Cole (Ray), Estelle Barnhart (Thomas) all of Walton, NY and Ann Carroll of Mountain Rest, SC; four grandchildren, Noah Chistoffer and Abigail Sunshine Grossmann, Nova Robbins, and Miya Robbins; several nieces and nephews; and his right hand men, Scott Barnhart, Andy and Mike Grossmann and greatest fishing buddy, Gary Pettit. He was predeceased by brother in laws, Dave Palmatier and Darrell Carroll, sister in law, Janice Grossmann and a nephew, Rob Palmatier.

A celebration of Ray's life will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Walton Vet's Club, 10 Park St., Walton.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Ray's memory be made to Pendleton EMS, 111 North Depot Street, Pendleton, SC 29670, the Southeastern Regional Medical Center, 600 Celebrate Life Parkway, Newnan, GA 30265 or the Cancer Center of America, 600 Celebrate Life Parkway, Newnan, GA 30265.
