Obituary

Raymond J. Light, born October 15, 1950, died in a car accident on February 27, 2024, along his side his wife Joan B. Light of 47 years.

Raymond was born to John Light and Anna Light (Miner) in Sidney, New York. He was the oldest of four children. He was predeceased by both of his parents, his brother Glenn, sister Grace and his infant son Robin.

He married the girl next door and love of his life Joan Wright on October 2, 1976, in Sidney Center.

He is survived by his brother Roger Light of North Carolina, both Raymond and Joan are survived by their daughter Cherokee and Donald Field of Vestal, New York, son Abe Light of Tully, New York, son Justin Light of Little Falls, New York, God daughter Alycia Possemato and God son Anthony Possemato. Also, four grandchildren; Joseph Field, William Field, Aiden Field and Xavier Field. Survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and foster children they fostered for years.

Raymond was a hard-working man, who adored his wife and children. He worked at a sawmill for a few years, but his love was farming. Which he did right up till he retired. He was a member of the Plymouth Church in Walton, New York and he loved God. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved hunting, fishing, watching westerns and the tractor pull at the Walton fair. He loved to sit on the porch and go for rides with his wife Joan.

Joan B. Light born February 18, 1947, died in a car accident on February 27, 2024, along side her husband, Raymond Light of 47 years.

Joan B. Light (Wright) was born to Roberta Barlow (Wright) and John B. Herron of Sidney, New York. She was an only child and was predeceased by both of her parents, stepfather Fred Barlow, and infant son Robin.

Joan married the boy next door and the love of her life, Raymond Light on October 2, 1976 in Sidney Center, New York.

Joan was a housewife and loved every minute of it. She worked in the cafeteria at the Franklin Central School for a couple of years, but her love was at home working, sewing, and baking for her family. She was a member of the Plymouth Church in Walton, New York and loved God with all her heart.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, she loved to read and one of her favorite things was getting a big bag of books from her daughter and discussing them. One other love of hers was pets and taking in strays. Joan also loved to draw and paint. She loved to work in the garden and plant flowers. Sitting on the porch and going for rides with her husband by her side was what she loved the most in her retirement years.

Both will be hugely missed by family and friends. In lieu of cards and flowers, please donate to an animal shelter or your local fire department.

Services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Plymouth Church located at 6033 County Highway 21, Walton, Ny 13856 at 1PM with Pastor Bob Wilkie officiating.
