Reta Smith Krause, 81, of Apalachin, NY returned to God quietly and peacefully at home on December 8, 2006 in the loving care of friends at her bedside. Reta was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Krause, three sisters; Glenon Matthieson, Trudy Johnston, and Reva Fuschino, and her parents; Harold Smith and Hazel Sutton Smith. She is survived by two sisters; Dorothy Shoytush and Irma Leigh, and her children; Neil Krause, Trudy Buckman, and Paul Krause. Reta was born in Walton, NY on Novenber 14, 1925 and graduated from Walton High School. She graduated from Pratt Institute for Art and worked for the Army Map Service. Reta was a deeply spiritual person. Her faith had a profoundly positive effect on those she touched and she was most at home engaged in discovering the depths of her faith and the faith of others.

Her family would like to thank Lourdes Hospice, the Organism, and especially Nancy King for their compassionate, loving, and selfless care in the final weeks of Reta's life. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at the Walton United Presbyterian Church on 58 East Street, Walton NY starting at 11:00 am. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Lourdes Hospice and the Walton United Presbyterian Church.
