Richard H. "Rick" Engelhardt, Jr., 38, of Walton passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, July 27, 2014 at home.
Rick was on born October 13, 1975 in Morristown, NJ the son of Richard and Nancy (Banks) Engelhardt. He graduated from Walton Central School the Class of 1994. He was a graduate of Morrisville State College, majoring in automotive technology.
Rick was a self employed mechanic, greeting card representative and well known driver of derby car #33R. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and his fiancee', Jackie. He enjoyed gardening, going fishing, raising chickens, making maple syrup, and boating at the East Sidney Dam. He enjoyed competing in the Demolition Derbys', especially the Derby at the Walton Fair. He was a member of the Sno-Riders, North Eastern Demolition and a Pee Wee soccer, baseball and football coach. He attended St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Walton.
Rick is survived by his children, Robert Engelhardt and Thomas Engelhardt; his fiancee' and her children, Jacquelyn Huyck, Emma and Tyler, his father Richard and Joanne Engelhardt, Walton; his mother, Nancy Engelhardt, Hamden; his sisters, Christina Foster of Hobart; and Carole Finch of Masonville; Cyndy Bofelos of Hamden; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Saturday morning, August 2, 2014 from 10 AM to 12:15 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm at Saint John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 17-25 Benton Avenue, Walton, NY with Rev. Edward J Golding officiating. A Celebration of Rick's Life will be held at the Walton Fairgrounds following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Rick's memory be made to a trust fund for his sons, Robbie and Tommy, in care of: Carole L. Finch 121 Teed Road Sidney Center, NY 13839
