Obituary

Richard N. "Dick" Finch, 91, died August 5, 2014 at his home in Warden, WA after a long illness. Born August 23, 1922 he was the only child of Louis & Viola Finch of the Town of Masonville, NY. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean E. Finch, of Warden, WA; his daughter & son-in-law Roseann & William Bluler of Raleigh, NC; his son Charles Finch of Warden, WA; four granddaughters Deborah Hawkins, Teresa Danford, Mandy Finch, and Jessie Bell; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

After his schooling he entered the Army in October 22, 1943 serving in World War II in the European Theater and was honorably discharged January 8, 1946. He received the Bronze Star medal for meritorious service in action with the Co. F 339th "Polar Bear" Regiment in the campaign in Italy.

During the 53 years as a resident of the Town of Colesville he worked as a farmer, an equipment salesman and owner of Finch's General Store. He was elected to the Colesville Town Board in 1965 thru 1988 serving 2 years as Councilman and 22 years as Supervisor. During this time he was also active with the Colesville Emergency Squad, Harpursville Fire Company, and a 55 yr member of the American Legion. He lived the past nine years in Warden, WA sharing this time with his son's family and farming experiences.

Inurnment will held privately and at the convenience of the family at Carroll Cemetery in Trout Creek.
