IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard C.
Kling, Iii
November 1, 1952 – September 5, 2023
Richard C. Kling, Ill, "Rick" of Franklin, NY, originally from North Haledon, NJ died peacefully September 5, 2023, after a brief illness. His wife of 28 years, Geraldine, "Gerry" (nee DeRubeis) Kling was unceasingly by his side.
He was a 1974 graduate of Mercer University, and member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. His time spent in Macon, Georgia is when his love for the Allman Brothers Band began listening to and following the band as they rose to fame. After college, Rick returned to run WACO Machine with his father, Dick Kling and
became a Free Mason of the 32* like his father. Rick moved to the Jersey Shore, where he laterbecame known as "Rock N Roll Rick" working at Betty & Nick's Bait and Tackle Shop in Seaside Park. Rick was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent countless hours in nature with his father, brother Scott, and many dear friends like Bruce, Dennis, Mike and Mark. His love of the outdoors was only surpassed by his devotion to his family and friends.
Rick kept abreast of current events and politics his entire life, first by newspaper and then by internet. Like his father, he shared his passion for voicing his opinions on the editorial page. His many online friends will miss Rick's informed, outspoken comments on everything from eagle-cams to future presidents.
Rick leaves behind his beloved Gerry, sister Mindy (nee Kling) D'Amico and her husband JD. His nieces Katherine and Hannah and nephew Jacob D'Amico. Also, niece Stephanie Kling and her husband Noah Rosenstein and nephew Tyler Kling. Also left behind is Gerry's brother Carmine DeRubeis and wife Anita, brother Danny and his late wife Judy and daughters Carly and husband Mike DiPrenda and their children and Danielle and husband Lou Gomez and their children. Rick was pre-deceased in life by his first wife, Deborah Diane (nee Swope) Kling, his parents Richard C. Kling Jr., and C. Maxine (nee Alford) Kling, beloved brother and hunting mate, Scott Andrew Kling and sister-in-law Dierdre Jean (nee Hicks) Kling.
Rick will be cremated. Donations can be made in Rick's name to Make A Wish Foundation or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Rick is at The Rainbow Bridge playing with his precious pets, especially his beloved Golden Retrievers. Rick was larger than life, knew how to live life large and had a heart even bigger.
