Obituary

Robert C. Barnhart, 64 a lifelong resident of Walton, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at home.

Bob was born in Walton on June 30, 1945 the son of the late Arnold O. and Margaret (Calkins) Barnhart. He was a graduate of Walton Central School. On September 30, 1968 he married the former Gail Benson. Bob was employed at NYSEG as a construction and maintenance machine operator. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a former member of the Walton Pistol Club. He enjoyed woodworking, woodcraft carving, using his metal detector, hunting, camping and digging for and collecting ancient arrowheads.

He is survived by his loving family; his wife, Gail two sons, Robert (Lenette) Barnhart, Jamie (Sandy) Barnhart, both of Walton; 7 grandchildren, Jared, Dustin, Tanner, Logan, Klayton, Emilee, and Kazlynn; a sister, Beverly (Michael) Soldan of Franklin, one brother, David Barnhart of Delhi, two aunts, Rosalie Barnhart of Unadilla; Amelia MacDonald of Whitesboro, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Barnhart on April 3, 2009.

Friends and relatives are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM on Sunday evening, February 21, 2010, at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St. Walton, where services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday morning with the Rev. Matthew H. Frisoni officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.
