Robert V. MacGibbon, 83, of Walton passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, January 31, 2016 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.

Bob was born on December 21, 1932 in Walton, the son of the late Donald and Maude Lambrecht MacGibbon. After graduating from Walton Central School he completed a certification course at Cornell and worked as a DHIA milk tester until he bought the family dairy farm in 1954. On July 2, 1955 he married the former Betty Lathan. He later purchased two other farms that he operated. He loved working with cattle as well as working the land. Bob was an active member of many organizations: Farm Bureau, Eastern Milk Producers and was a GLF/Agway committee member.

Bob is survived by his loving family, his wife, Betty, sons, David R. (Mary) MacGibbon of Walton; Mark W. (Gayla) MacGibbon of Walton; brothers, Gerald (Eleanor) MacGibbon of Walton, Clyde MacGibbon of Texas; sister, Alta Holley of Florida; sister in laws, Barbara Lathan, Audrey MacGibbon, Jean MacGibbon and Lillian Rifenbury; grandchildren, Matthew (Mirranda), Jon (Erica), great grandchildren, Madison Graupman , Makara, Makenna, and Parker MacGibbon and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard (Elizabeth) Glenn, John (Barbara), Raymond, sisters, Jean (Floyd) Musson, Janet (Richard) Fletcher and brother in-law Paul Lathan.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton where services will be held at 11 AM with the Rev. Bert More, officiating.
