Robert C. Miller, 68, a lifelong resident of Walton, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at home, surrounded by his family.

Bob was born on June 9, 1945 in Walton, the son of the late Glenn and Margaret (Johnson) Miller. He was a graduate of Walton Central School, class of 1964 and of Delhi Tech in 1966 with a degree in Building Technology. On April 30, 1999 he married the former Lorraine Casse. Bob was a self-employed building contractor for many years. He was a member and current treasurer, and past president of the Oak Ridge Club, a director and member of the Walton Historical Society and a member of the Walton Pistol Club.

Bob loved to tinker and make things in his shop, whether it be turning out a bowl on his lathe or building a piece of outdoor furniture for his yard. He loved helping people and could often be found at a friend's home, fixing whatever was broken, using the skills he had developed over the years. He had built his home and his pride and skill was quite apparent in every project he completed.

Bob was a very caring person who posessed a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good joke and playing practical jokes on all who crossed his path. He especially loved children and they delighted in his antics. He was a great "DAD" with Herb and Angelo, his special buddies, with whom he shared his home. Bob enjoyed whistling and everybody knew that all was well when they heard him whistling a tune.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Lorraine, one daughter, Jennifer Miller of Eastlake, Ohio; two sons, Tom & Kim Dodd of Afton, and Herb Hand of Walton, his grandchildren, Amber Hawley, Katrina Martin and Stephanie McEwan, great-grandchildren, Cali, Aiden and Averie; a brother John & Jean Miller of Tijeras, New Mexico; a sister, Marilyn "Rusty" Adams, Lakeland Florida; brothers and sisters in law, Joan and Jim Bryden, Sidney Center; Bob and Sue Casse, Norwich; Adolphe and Michelle Casse II, North Shirley, NY; special nephew, Jeremy and Brenda Miller, Walton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was predeceased by a son, Angelo Lister and a sister, Joann Lewin.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday evening, August 9, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11 AM at the First Congregational Church, 4 Mead St., Walton; with Pastor Janet Schwengber, officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.
