Robert E. Nichols, 80, of Afton formerly of Walton, passed away early Monday morning, January 18, 2016 at Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Norwich.

Bob was born on September 10, 1935 in Manhattan, the son of the late John and Jessie Nichols. On March 23, 1982 he married the former Sharon P. Moore. She predeceased him on December 20, 2008.

Bob worked for the Town of Hamden on the Road Crew. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his loving family, a son, Rocky Possemato of Pulaski, NY; LeAnn Possemato of Pulaski, NY; Brenda and Mark Shelton of Afton; 6 grandchildren, sister, Gertrude Nichols of Walton, NY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday evening, January 21, 2016 from 5 to 7 PM at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, where services will be held at 7 PM with Pastor Larry Light, officiating.
