Robert G. Verrill, 78, of Sidney Center, formerly of East Chester, NY; passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011 at Delaware Valley Hospital, following a short illness.
Bob was born on June 12, 1933 in Gorham, Maine the son of the late Andrew N. and Catherine L. (Bulfinch) Verrill. On February 9, 1952 he married the former Anne Becker in New Rochelle, New York.
Bob proudly served his country in the Army from 1950 to 1953 during the Korean War. He was self-employed, for many years, in East Chester as a Carpet Installer. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department in East Chester where he served as Fire Chief and the Rod & Gun Club. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his loving family, his wife, Anne, his children, Robert Verrill of Binghamton; Dawn (Doug) Preneveau, Lagrangeville, NY; Holly (Glenn) Guerrera of New Milford, CT; Glenn (Bernadette) Verrill of Walden, NY; his grandchildren, Chelsea, Shannon, Jake, Madison, Kelly, Amanda, his brothers, Thomas and Dorothy Verrill, David and Pam LaDeau of Chicago, IL; Ronald and Judy LaDeau of CA; and Chuck and Emy LaDeau of CA; his special friends, Artie and Roberta Dassler of New Rochelle, NY; special nephews, Frank and Jim Ward; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond Verrill.
A memorial service will be held on January 21, 2011 at 1PM at the First Congregational Church, 1 Bridge Street, Sidney, NY; with the Rev. Pat Robinson, officiating.
