Robert Voltzow, 77 of Hamden passed away Thursday morning at home following a long illness.

Bob was born in East Paterson, New Jersey on September 28, 1930 the son of the late Benjamin and Anna (Toth) Voltzow. He was a graduate of Lodi High School, class of 1948. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bob was the owner of Elco Industries of Paramus, NJ which specialized in printing. Bob was very active serving on the board of directors of the Paramus Vol. Ambulance Corp., the Lions Club, the VFW # 6699 and the American Legion # 207 both of Paramus, a long time leader and treasurer of the Boy Scout Troop # 21, Paramus, original cast member of the Paramus Scholarship Show, and the Hamden United Presbyterian Church.

Bob also had a talent for and love of music which he lovingly shared with the many people he entertained at Countryside Care Center, and TA's Place on holidays. He played many instruments which included the harmonica, organ, piano, glockenspiel, ukulele, accordion, and drums. He also loved the country around Hamden where he lived on weekends for 30 years and finally after retirement, moved permanently. He also loved hunting, fishing, and tending to his Spanish Barb horses. Bob shared so much of himself with the many people he came in contact with over the years.

Bob is survived by his beloved partner, Eleanor Donnelly, 2 daughters, Ellen (Edward) Simpson, Hillsdale, NJ; Elissa (Matthew) Cahn, Paramus, NJ; 3 grandchildren, Jed, Emily & Harrison; 1 brother, George (Olive) Voltzow, Clearwater, Florida; Elaine Reichardt Voltzow, who he was previously married to; his beloved extended family, Allan Donnelly, Swain, NY; Cassie Donnelly, Delhi; Janet (Tom) Champlin, Downsville; Laurie (Mike) Bradshaw, Utah; Thomas (Virginia) Donnelly, Walton; Patricia Boyers, High Point, North Carolina; grandchildren; great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and the many, many special friends in New York and New Jersey. He was predeceased by a brother, Benjamin "Babe" Voltzow.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, with the Rev. Larry Light, officiating. There are no calling hours.
