Roger L. Luscomb, 76, of Downsville, passed away Saturday morning, March 5, 2011 at home following a long illness.

Roger was born on August 22, 1934 in Shinhopple, the son of the late Leroy and Ella (Eck) Luscomb. He proudly served his country in the US Army, receiving the purple Heart and becoming disabled as a result of action in the Korean War. On May 7, 1954 he married the former Joan Barnes at Downsville.

Roger was a member of the Downsville American Legion and the O & Y Hunting Club, Shinhopple. In his spare time Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Roger is survived by his loving family, his wife, Joan , three daughters: Janet Williams of Walton, Lorna Luscomb and Andrea Luscomb, both of Downsville; three sons, Steve (Dulcie) Luscomb of Downsville, Mike (Pattie) Luscomb of Shinhopple, Russell (Mary Ann) Luscomb of Downsville, 12 grandchildren, Angela, Ryan, Tiffany, Jesse, Kyle, Staci, Terina, Erica, Georgia, Rose, Alex and Jeremy, 8 great-grandchildren, Danny, Kayla, Austin, Tristin, Johnny, Evan, Tyler, and Mackenzie, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and his close and longtime friend, Gilbert Mills. Roger was predeceased by a brother, Donald Luscomb and his sisters, Dixie, and Janet.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
