Rose M. Phoenix, 57 a lifetime resident of Walton, passed away suddenly Friday afternoon,October 27, 2006 at O'Connor Hospital, Delhi..

Rose was born in Walton on June 5, 1949, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Shirley Jump Underwood. On July 5, 1969 she married Dwight Phoenix, her soulmate. She was raised in Walton and graduated from Walton Central School. She was employed by Delaware County for many years as a Program Specialist, and was a member of the CSEA Local 813. She was also previously employed at the Walton Reporter and the Walton Phone Company.

She spent many years as a 4H leader and participated in the Walton Fair Horse Program

Her family was the most important thing to her, and she spent her free time taking care of them.

She is survived by her husband Dwight; three daughters Tammy L. Phoenix, and Donald Breen; Raquel L. Doig, and her husband Michael; Michelle M. Phoenix; one son Michael S. Phoenix all of Walton; one brother, Lawrence Underwood and his wife Sharon of Walton; two sisters, Kathlyn Bakker and her husband, Samuel of Barstow California, Lisa Haynes and her husband, George of Bloomville; two grandsons, Spencer Gransbury and Kyle Doig; two granddaughters, Natasha Breen and Grace Doig all of Walton; also two special nephews Kenneth Wagner of Walton, and George Haynes III of Bloomville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday evening, October 30, 2006 from 6-8 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St, Walton, where services will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 1 PM .

Memorial contributions in Rose's memory made be made to the Walton Fire Department & EMS, 61 West Street, Walton, NY 13856, or to an education fund for Michelle Phoenix at the National Bank of Delaware County, 133 Delaware St, Walton, NY 13856
