Kilmer
June 7, 1920 – October 19, 2016
Ruby V. Kilmer, 96, of Walton, went to be an Angel in Heaven on October 19, 2016.
Ruby was born on June 7, 1920 in Downsville, the daughter of the late Homer and Jennie (Kinch) Vail. On June 15, 1938 she married Arthur H. Kilmer Jr. he predeceased her in 1966. She was busy lady who enjoyed being a member of the Hamden Presbyterian Church, the Hamden Crafts Club, her church study group, the Delaware County Senior Citizens Club, Walton American Legion Auxiliary, and a volunteer at Delaware Opportunities for over 20 years. Ruby grew up on a farm, enjoyed farm life and was a farmer at heart. She loved all animals especially loved feeding the birds and stray cats.
Ruby would crochet many hats and donated them to the Walton Toy Bank every year. She played Dominos, BINGO, and did puzzles which she said, kept her mind sharp. She enjoyed her family, keeping in touch with her whole family; enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Ruby is survived by her loving family, her daughters, Mickey and Glenn Shackelton and Wanda and Bob Van Buren all of Walton, her grandchildren, Tina Avery, Janalee and Bill Dwojakowski, Billy, Bernie, Debbie and David Van Buren; and great-grand daughter, Ashleigh and Jeremy Pratt, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur H. Kilmer Jr.; children, Clifford, Bernice, and Beverly A. Kilmer. A special thanks to her long time friend Alice Blackman.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Saturday morning, October 22, 2016 from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton where services will be held at 11 AM with the Rev. Bert More, officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.
