Ruby J. Sprague 73, of Walton, passed away early Saturday morning, August 21, 2010 at home in Walton, following a long illness.

Ruby was born on March 13, 1937 in Margaretville, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Van Steenburgh) Sprague. She was employed for many years as a cook at Kass's Inn, Margaretville.

Ruby had a beautiful voice and loved to write songs and sing them for her family and friends. She also loved the outdoors and spending time with her grandkids.

Ruby is survived by 3 daughters, Debra (Michael) Mills, Trout Creek; Donna Coss, Wooster; Abby (Richard) Palmer, Vernon Center; a son, John Coss, Andes, 13 grandchildren, Chellie, Cody, Garrett, Desirae, Shianne, John, Teresa, Travis, Megan, Morgan, Stephanie, Shucarie, Sam and Frank, a greatgrandson, Colton; brothers, Victor, Asher and Clayte Sprague; sisters, Freda Manning, Betty Martin, Shirley Yeare and Doris Coss; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Drusilla Coss and a son, Frank Coss.

A graveside service will be held on September 11, 2010 at 11 AM at Halcottsville Cemetery, Margaretville.
