Ruth E. Foote, 86, of Walton passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Chestnut Park Nursing Home, Oneonta, NY.

Ruth was born March 17, 1926 in Cannonsville, the daughter of the late Frank and Nellie (Gregory) Scofield.

She was married to her beloved husband on November 11, 1945 at the First Baptist Church in Walton.

Her and her husband lived on the family farm on Walton Mountain where they raised their five children. She worked as a waitress at Budine's Drive-In and for many years, she worked as a clerk at Agway Farm Store in Walton.

Ruth enjoyed taking rides in the car around the hill, working in her garden and her flower beds. She also enjoyed dancing and watching school sporting events.

Ruth is survived by her children, Virginia (James) Byrne of Tannersville, Jerry O. (Dolores Fogarty) Foote of Walton, Linda (Doug) McLaughlin of Albany, Paul (Lori) Foote of Sidney, and Lisa (Mike) Clapperton of Masonville; seven grandchildren, Heather Byrne Barnett, Bret McLaughlin, Bridget McLaughlin Rutherford, Jered, Paula and Andrew Foote, and Dennis Clapperton; her great-grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel Rutherford and Jacob McLaughlin. Also surviving is one sister Esther (Leon) Holley of Colorado Springs, CO and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Ogden and her sister, Vivian Shaw.

Friends and family are invited to call at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, NY on Sunday, December 16 from 4 to 6 PM and on Monday, December 17 from 10 to 11 AM. At 11 AM a memorial service will be held with Rev. Jay O'Connor, officiating.
