Obituary

Ruth M. Shaver, 89 passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 in Walton following a short illness.

Ruth was born in Delhi on September 13, 1923 the daughter of the late Harold and Florence (Esther) Latham Moody. She married John F. Shaver on November 3, 1945 at the Mundale Church. John died on July 21, 2008.

Ruth lived most of her life in Walton. She graduated from Delhi Central School. Ruth went to work for Scintilla , now known as Aphenol, in 1952 until 1982. After retirement Ruth and her husband, John enjoyed traveling and for several years spent winters in Florida. They were also active members of a local square dance club.

Ruth was a charter member of the Walton Fireman's Ladies Auxillary. During her retirement Ruth made quilts for several members of the family. One of her quilts has been around the world with a grandson while he was in the military.

Ruth is survived by her children, Margaret "Peg" Budine of Franklin; Joan (Joe) Frazier of Big Sandy, TN; John H. (Elizabeth) Shaver of Unadilla; her nine grandchildren, Ronald, Robin, James Jr., Todd, Vance, Ty Budine, Tina, Christopher, Jessica Shaver, her 13 great grandchildren, her sister in law, Sandra Moody of Delhi; her companion, Bruce Hoyt, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Shaver , her granddaughter, Renee Budine, her brother, Elden Moody, and several brothers, and sister in laws.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 12 Noon to 2 PM with the family in attendence at the United Presbyterian Church, 58 East St., Walton where services will be held at 2 PM with the Rev. Dr. Lisa Ruth Mays and Rev Marena Vittorio, officiating. Burial will follow in Walton cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to a church of one's choice or the Walton Emergency Squad, 61 West Street, Walton, New York 13856.
