Sarah Lee Monroe, 68, recently of Walton had previously lived 57 years in Hawthorne, NJ, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY. Sarah was born on April 6, 1948 in Paterson, NJ. She is the daughter of the late LeRoy and Sarah (Grimes) Monroe.

Sarah was a long time graduate of Roman Academy Beauty School and was a passionate talented beautician. Her favorite past time was playing BINGO with all of her friends at the Caring Adult Center of Prospect Park in New Jersey. She liked to watch television and was particularly fond of The Lawrence Welk Show. Her feisty, out-going personality touched many lives and gained her many friends.

She is survived by her sisters, Marie Monroe of Walton and Ellen Monroe of Walton, brother, Michael and Julie Monroe of NJ, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, and one great-niece, one great-nephew and several loving cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11AM at St. Anthony's Church in Hawthorne.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sarah's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
