Sheila E. Buchanan, 61 a lifelong resident of Walton, passed away Friday morning, May 15, 2009 unexpectedly at home following a long struggle.

Sheila was born in Walton on January 18, 1948 the daughter of the late Hugh and Ramona (Davidson) Bodiot. On November 16, 1964 she married Richard Buchanan. Sheila was employed for many years at Aiello's Restaurant and later at the former Keith Clark Co. (At A Glance) Sidney.

Sheila was a warm and caring lady who loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed crafts, crochet, baking cookies and cooking, sewing and making clothes for her children, playing solitaire and games on her computer. She was a meticulous house keeper where her kitchen was the center of activity.

Sheila is survived by her loving family: her husband, Dick, three daughters: Yvonne Young-Buchanan, Ruth Matthews, both of Walton, Jacqueline (James) Driscoll of Sidney Center, NY, one son: Mike Buchanan of Rome, NY, 8 grandchildren, Donald, Lyndsey, Zachary, Isabelle, Brittny, Nicholas, Michael, Andrea, great grandson, Lucas; brothers, Hugh and Richard Bodiot; sister, Maxine Stillwell; several nieces, nephews and cousins, special friends, Cindy and Sonny McNeil, and the many other people who knew, loved and will miss her. She was predeceased by her brothers, Terry and Jimmy Bodiot, sisters, Yvonne Roe and Faye Szczepczynski, brother in law David Roe and son in law Tim Matthews.

A graveside service will be held 1 PM on Tuesday afternoon, May 19, 2009 at Walton Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
