Obituary

Ms. Sherry Seward, 65 passed away at her parents home in Fort Lawn, South Carolina on Tuesday, May, 1, 2018 after a long illness.

Sherry was born on October 4, 1952 the daughter of Leonard Rutherford Sr. and Helen (Drumm) Rutherford. She was a graduate of Walton Central School.

Sherry first worked at Bard Parker in Hancock then for Delaware County ARC Community Living Skills Center and at various residences. She loved children and enjoyed working as a nanny. Sherry was a loving mother and grandmother.

In 1995, she and Jim moved to Texas, where she started working in the daycare field. After moving to North Carolina in 1997, she returned to school obtaining a degree in Early Childhood Development from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, and continued working in child care until her illness prevented it.

Sherry is survived by her significant other, Jim Hunt; her parents, Leonard and Helen, children, Glenda Thompson (Scott) Farrell of Rock Hill, SC; Brent (Natalie) Cole of Gastonia, NC; Shannon (Jack) Fairchild of Walton, NY; James (Lisa) Seward, Jr., grandchildren, Marissa, James, Kinley, Christian, Jacklyn, Cheryl, Kierstyn, and Kerenna, siblings, Leonard (Marjorie) Rutherford, Jr. of Walton, NY; Stephen (Maureen) Rutherford of Morris, NY; Debbie (Craig) Davis of Walton, NY; Brian (Debbie) Rutherford of Walton, NY; sister in law, Elnora Rutherford of Walton, NY; very special extended family, Chris and Ashley Causey and their 2 children, Avery and Tyler, Fortmill, SC; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, her beloved horses, cats, and dogs. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Rutherford, Sr., and two sisters, Wendy Banks and Glenda Rutherford.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 10AM at the Walton Cemetery, Walton. A small gathering will be held at the Walton Fire Department for family and friends.
