Shirley May Burrows, 78 of Trout Creek, passed away at home on Sunday afternoon, April 9, 2017.
Shirley was born in Walton on January 17, 1939 to the late Bill and Cora Taylor. She was a graduate of Miller Ave School in Walton. On May 21, 1955 she married Edgar Burrows in Cannonsville, NY. He died in 2000.
Shirley and her husband, Edgar lived in Rock Rift where they welcomed two children, Everett and Missy. On the farm she helped raise heifers. In 1982 Shirley sold the farm and moved to Camden, Tennessee where Edgar and she opened a small engine repair shop. She continued to work hard in the shop doing the billing, ordering parts, and taking phone calls. The shop was closed in 2000 when Edgar died. She then went to work for North 40 Truck Stop as a Cook, where she met her longtime friend and companion Doc Livingston.
In 2011 she moved back to NY where she lived with Everett until she passed. Shirley enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders, reading, and the special visits with her great grandchildren.
