Sophie Stalzer,95, of Walton formerly of Queens passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton, NY.

Sophie was born February 3, 1928 in Austria the daughter of the late Anton and Karolena (Hoegler) Sigmund. On March 16, 1950 she married Herbert Stalzer, he predeceased her in 1981.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, and crocheting. The most important thing to her was spending time with her family. Sophie was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Walton.

Sophie is survived by her loving family, her children, Herbert Stalzer (Nina) of Walton, Magdalena Taber (Michael) of Delhi, grandchildren, Keith Stalzer (Katie), Erica Gasiorowski (Michael), great grandchildren, Kylan, Hayden, Kade, Kody in Arizona, sister, Agnes Maichin of Ridgewood, NY. She is predeceased by her brother, Joseph Sigmund, sister, Albina Gliebe, and Magda Pogorelz.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 4pm to 7pm at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 10am at St. John the Baptist, 25 Benton Avenue, Walton with Father Edward J. Golding, celebrant. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery.
