IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sue Ellen
Cymbalist
July 25, 1945 – November 21, 2023
Sue Ellen Cymbalist died at the age of 78 on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, following a long illness.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Peter B. Cymbalist; her daughter Deborah Currie (James) of Concord, NC; her son Adam Schneider (Catherine) of Bayport, NY; three grandchildren, Ella, Bennett and Laura; two sisters, Jane Joslin and Bette Thompson; brother, John Walters; and many close family and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother George Walters.
Sue was born and raised on Long Island, New York and is the daughter of G. Carlton Walters and Catharine DeRivera Walters. After high school, Sue attended and graduated from Green Mountain College, and began work as a secretary. She continued this career until her retirement. Sue lived on Long Island until 1998, when she and Pete retired and began their new life in Walton, NY.
Sue had a passion for spending time with family, playing mahjong with friends and family and doing theater work during her twenties and thirties. She forged friendships that have lasted a lifetime, including her two best friends, Kathy Anderson and Sandy Mellon. The YaYa's, as they called themselves, shared more than 60 years of friendship and fun, and never missed a moment of laughter. Her smile would light up a room, and her laughter was contagious. If you knew, you knew.
Please feel free to join us for a service to celebrate Sue's memory at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, New York 13856 at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 25, 2023.
