Susan Martin, 101 a former resident of Hamden, passed away Monday morning, April 27, 2009 at Susquehanna Nursing Home, Johnson City after a long illness.

Susan was born in Trenton, NJ on September 7, 1907 the daughter of the late Michael and Susan (Mento) Kostrub. On April 30, 1927 she married her childhood sweetheart, Stephen Martin. He died in 1974. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the family farm at Hawley Station in Hamden. She was a former member of the Hamden Presbyterian Church. She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed knitting, and loved spending time with her children, grand and great-grandchildren.

Susan is survived by her son, Stephen Martin, Deposit; daughter in law, Marcella Martin, Florida; 11 grand children, 33 great-grandchildren, 9 great great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Frank Martin and a grandson, Terrance Martin.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from 12 noon to 2 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, NY, where services will be held at 2 PM. Interment will follow in Walton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Susan's memory may be made to the Deposit Presbyterian Church.
