Sylvia L. "Sue" Fancher, 72, a lifelong resident of Walton passed away unexpectedly, Monday, June 13, 2016 at home.

Sue was born on March 17, 1944 in Oneonta, the daughter of the late Clair and Louise (Tears) Brush. She married Carlton G. Fancher in 1964. She was employed by Scott Machine Development Corp. as receptionist, for 38 years. She was a 30 year member of the Walton Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, serving as treasurer. She was also an accomplished gardener at both home and at the horse barns at the Delaware County Fair, always sharing plants and ideas on improving a garden. Sue was a voracious reader who always had a book open in any spare moment she had to enjoy from a variety of authors.

As a leader for the Equestrian 4-H Club for over 20 years, and as a Girl Scout volunteer, she was known to be very organized and dedicated. She was also a person who took pride in her home and dearly loved her family. She will be remembered as a kind soul with a big heart, who enjoyed caring for her pets.

Sue is survived by her loving family, her husband, Carl, her two daughters: Carol and Mark Wangeman of Scottsdale, AZ; Lori and Rocky Griggs of Winston-Salem, NC; Grandchildren, Kyle, Rachel and Meghan; sister: Grace Cornell, Walton; brother, James Brush, TN; brothers and sisters In Law, Cindy and Daryl Bakker and John Fancher and Terri Massey, all of Walton, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday evening, June 17, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Sue's memory be made to Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, PO Box 88, Delhi, NY 13753.
