Teresa N. Voorhies, 90 of Walton passed away at home suddenly Sunday morning December 11, 2011.

Teresa was born in Rock Valley, N.Y. on January 6, 1921 the daughter of Arthur and Marie Neer. On June 26, 1937 she married William J. Voorhies in Walton. Teresa and Bill owned and operated the Voorhies Oil Company until 1973. Then she went to work at Ponds Insurance Company where she worked for 34 years , retiring at the age of 86. Teresa was a hard worker and a very generous person, she enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Teresa is survived by her daughter, Linda and Bill Houston of Macon, Georgia; two sons, Jack A. and Gale Voorhies of Lyons, Colorado; Chris H. and Jennifer Voorhies of Walton; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Teresa was predeceased by her husband, William Voorhies, two sisters, Grace and Joyce; her brother, Arthur and her granddaughter, Stacy Bryant.

Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 11AM - 1PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, where services will be held at 1PM with the Rev. Larry Light, officiating.
