Thomas G. Ballard Sr. passed away Monday, January 1, 2024, at home surrounded by his love of over 20 years Elnora Rutherford, his bonus daughter Donna Banker, his daughter in-law Kim Ackerley, and his granddaughter Kayla Ballard.

Tom was Born February 22, 1945, in Margaretville. He graduated from Fleischmanns High School in 1963 and joined Uncle Sam's Marine Corps that fall where he served until 1965.

Tom was able to find friends anywhere, often doing so on his hunting and fishing trips. His favorite spot was to be at his camp in Pulaski fishing with his buddies or up on the hill seeing what animals his trail camera caught. Along with these, Tom was very proud of his garden, usually offering fresh veggies to anyone who stopped by. In his life, Tom was also an avid bowler, helping to host tournaments across the county.

Along with his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his brother Orville Ballard and his son David Ballard.

Tom is survived by his sweetheart, Ellie, Brothers; Art (Sandy) Ballard, John (Linda) Ballard, sister Faith (Craig) Cherry, son Thomas (Gen) Ballard Jr, bonus kids Donna (Carl) Banker and Donald (Theresa) Rutherford, his daughter in-law Kim Ackerley, grandchildren Kayla Ballard, Taylor Ballard, and Thomas Ballard III, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses at DVH and Hospice for all their help and support.

The family invites you to call upon them, Thursday January 4, 2024, from 5PM-8PM at the Courtney Funeral Home. There will be a celebration of life this spring at the family's convenience.
