Thomas E. Dunphy, 79 of Downsville, passed away Monday, May 5, 2008 in the Countryside Care Center, Delhi, after a long illness.

Tom was born in New York City on July 16, 1928 the son of the late Bernard and Nora (McKessy) Dunphy. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U. S. Navy. On August 26, 1951 he married the former Evelyn Ferber. She died on February 25, 2001. He was employed for many years as a film editor at NBC Nightly News.

Tom was a former member of the Delhi Masonic Lodge, American Legion and the Motion Picture Editors Guild. He loved bowling, boating and fishing.

Tom is survived by 1 daughter, Carol (Ed) Brown, Walton; 2 sons, Michael (Susan) Dunphy, Waterloo, Robert (Doreen Sprague) Dunphy, Downsville; 8 grandchildren, Carlene, Adam, Matthew, Melissa, Kellie, Shawn, Chelsea, Devin, 1 great grand daughter, Kaiden, 1 brother, Donald (Michelle) Dunphy, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 1 sister Rose Prescott

A graveside service will be held at Paige Cemetery, Downsville on June 14, 2008 at 1 PM, with full military honors.
