Thomas A. Quick, 79, of Walton passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014 at Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta, following a long illness.
Tom was born on December 31, 1934 in Callicoon the son of the late Osmer T. and Lillian (Knack) Quick. He attended Delaware Valley Central School in Callicoon. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force from January 1953 until December 1964.
On May 21, 1966 he married the former Carolyn Tennant in Walton. He worked at Schrode Cutlery Corp. in Ellenville as a Time Study Analyst. He also worked for companies such as Wislon Sporting Goods in Cortland and Marsellus Casket Company in Syracuse.
Tom made a career change and decided to try retail sales, so he went to work for Raymour's Furniture in Liverpool and the surrounding Syracuse area stores. He also worked for Bern Furniture in Oneonta and Scholet Furniture in Oneonta where he retired after 20 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR cheering for his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, watching his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys, watching basketball,playing pinochle, golf and fishing. He was also an avid walker, always enjoying being outdoors.
Tom is survived by his loving family, his wife of 48 years, Carolyn, his children, Steven Quick of Mobile, AL; Thom Quick of Dallas, TX; Tod Quick of Walton; Tammy (Chris) Brundege of Walton; John Quick of Sidney; his grandchildren, Adrian, Michael, Brock, Zach, Michael, Gregory, Justin, Josh, Cameron, Juliaen, Kim, his step brothers, Richard and Robin Freyer of Delmar, Alan and Sue Freyer of Downington, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his step father, Albert Freyer, his daughter, Barbara and son in law, Brian Knapp.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 9AM at Walton Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Shank, officiating. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
