On Wednesday, February 2nd , with his wife and brother at his side, Timothy M. Barnes passed away after a long battle with cancer. Tim was born to the late Leo V. and Gertrude M. (Mericle) Barnes in Walton, New York on August 25, 1950. On June 15, 2003 Tim married Cindy D'Addezio.

Tim attended Downsville Central School and was a hard worker. At the age of 12 he worked on the Robert S. Cable farm in Downsville and at 16 became employed at the Binghamton Paper Box Company. He later worked with friends on construction in Ohio and in 1971 was part of the blasting team with the Corps of Engineers at Bear Swamp in Massachusetts. In December of 1976, he started his career with Delaware County Highway Department/Public Works as a Mechanic. Tim retired in October of 2009 after 34 years of dedicated hard work. He enjoyed traveling throughout the County repairing heavy equipment at the job sites.

Tim was an avid small game and deer hunter from an early age. He spent most of the hunting season on Club property or on the hill behind "Roger's" with family and friends. He also enjoyed bass fishing with his brother, wife, Fran, and Sharon, and the kids. During the year of his 50th birthday, a lifelong dream to travel to Alaska came true where he enjoyed fishing for halibut and driving through the wilderness.

Tim was a member and Past Chief of the Downsville Fire Department for 35 years, member of the O & Y Hunting Club and spent a lot of time cutting firewood with his brother Gary whom he always looked up to.

Tim is survived by his loving wife Cindy L. Barnes, sons; Christopher L. and David A. Barnes of Downsville, step-son; Holden L. Gray of Downsville, and step-daughter; Jennifer M. (Matthew) Wright of Walton, brother; Gary L. (Carol) Barnes and two nephews; Michael T. and Matthew G. Barnes of Downsville, grandsons; Nathan, Shawn, and Zachary Barnes of Downsville, and step-grandchildren; Kyle, Jillian, and Abigail Wright of Walton, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends at the Downsville Fire Department and County Highway Departments.

Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at The Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, New York from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM with the Downsville Fireman's Service at 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the Colchester Community Church, 15001 State Highway 30, Downsville, New York on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 2 PM with Mother Suzanne Cole and Pastor Dale Ashby Officiating. A graveside service will be held at Paige Cemetery, Downsville in the Spring.
