IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Timothy V.
Taylor
February 16, 1960 – September 23, 2010
Due to flooding in Delaware County the burial has been changed to 11:00AM on Saturday, October 9, 2010.
Timothy V. Taylor passed away at St. Lukes Hospital in Manila, Philippines of brain cancer on September 23, 2010. Tim was born February 16, 1960.
He spent his childhood growing up at the historical landmark the "North" house on North street in Walton. He also grew up in Randolph, NJ.
Tim was from one of the oldest settling families in the towns of Walton and Fishes Eddy (circa 1835).
Tim had a 16 year career in the United States Navy retiring from his base in Honolulu, HI in 1998. Tim received numerous medals, commendations and
achievements. Due to his love of his country and the Sea, he continued his military career working as a civilian for the last 12 years for the Military Sealift Command. Tim lived the last 12 years of his life between San Diego, California and Thailand. He also owned a home in Florida.
Tim collapsed and went into cardiac arrest while on his ship off the coast of the Philippines on August 31st. Tim never knew he had a very aggressive
malignant brain tumor. He had been the picture of health only recently passing a rigorous strict medical exam before he had shipped out on his next ship assignment.
More than anything in life, Tim wanted to be a Father. But as he grew older, he just felt it was not in the cards for him. As his brother, I used to jokingly
tell him that he needed to be in the same Country as his wife for that to happen and not be gallivanting all over the world with the Sealift Command.
In early 2007, Tim and his wife found out they were expecting. At this point in life nothing else mattered to him but the pending birth of his child.
In November of 2007, his wife gave birth to a baby girl. They named her Alyssabeth. Tim was so proud and honored to be a Dad.
Anyone could see the love he had in his eyes for this little girl. The first girl in the family in many generations.
Tim remained in a coma and was removed from his respirator on September 15th when his medical doctors said nothing more could be done for him.
He was not expected to breathe on his own after the respirator was removed. But Tim marveled his medical team. He lived for 8 more days.
This only showed his fight to live for his wife and daughter, his strength, his determination and his love for his Country and the Sea that he loved so much.
He devoted 28 years of his life to the Military. He had planned to retire next year from the Military Sealift Command as he wanted to settle down in his house in Florida. But he had still planned to continue to serve his country with a civilian mariner position which is why he had picked Pensacola, FL. He also said he wanted to be home every night so he could tuck his Alyssa into bed. Tim never regained consciousness after collapsing on his ship.
Tim was predeceased by his father, Vernon S. Taylor, Jr. (Tony) of Walton in 2005. He is survived by his 2 year old daughter Alyssabeth. He is also survived by his wife Onchulee of Thailand who remained by his side night and day. He is survived by 2 brothers. Kevin of New York and Craig of New Jersey. And one nephew.
Tim's former wife Joy of Thailand also remained by his side while he was in a coma.
Funeral arrangements are by Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery, French Woods, Hancock, NY, with full military honors.
Any donations in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
