Valarie (Kite) Vogel, "Grammy" of Walton, NY passed away on 9/21/18. She was 66 years old. Valarie was the daughter of the late Frederick and Marjorie Kite. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Carl Vogel, her son and daughter-in-law, Lucas and Kristy Vogel, daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Evan Pettit, her son, Zachary Vogel, grandchildren, Kyleigh, Cohen and Quinn Vogel and, Brady and Reese Pettit. Also surviving is her brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Cyndi Kite and her nieces Analise (Kite) Baker and Larissa Kite and nephew Devon Kite.

Val was a woman of extraordinary beauty, dignity and grace. She was equally a woman of great personal and professional accomplishment. But most endearing of all was her love, her humility and, her care and concern for the needs of others.

Valarie spent the majority of her professional career as the Guidance Counselor and then Principal of Townsend Elementary School. Both were roles that she cherished, and was well-respected for by her colleagues and the community at large.

Grammy and her grandchildren loved each other unconditionally. When Grammy wasn't baking or sewing for her grandchildren, she was caring for and playing with them.

She had great passion for swimming, gardening, sewing, traveling, music and reading. She found great joy in life's simplest pleasures; spending time with friends and family, and the smiles of her grandchildren. Constantly putting the needs of others before her own, there are no words to describe how much she will be missed.

Think of her often; a life well lived, full of love, joy and a helping hand to all.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
