Valerie Holley passed away at the young age of 50.

Valerie was born in Walton on March 20, 1963 the daughter of the late Ben Shackelton and Gloria Peck Shackelton. She was a graduate of Walton Central School class of 1981. Valerie grew up in Walton, where she enjoyed all that the simplicity of her home had to offer. She loved nature and spent most of her time outside. She married her soul mate, John Holley on July 21, 1984.

Valerie enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with her family outdoors. She worked at the Townsend School for the past 15 years, where she worked with special needs children. Helping children was one of her biggest passions in life, and she touched the lives of many. Valerie was a one one of a kind person, and tried to help anyone she could.

Family was of utmost importance to her, she was an amazing wife, wonderful mother and outstanding grandmother (Me-ma). She will be missed greatly.

Valerie is survived by her loving husband, John, two daughters, Amanda (Adam) and Heather (Rob) and her granddaughter, Kailee. She is also survived by her brothers, Geoffrey (Yvonne) Shackelton, Daniel (Brandi), nephews, Cameron, Ian and Corbyn, her mother and father in law, Jim and Peg Holley, her brothers and sisters in law, and her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where services will be held at 1 PM. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.
